All are welcome - no matter how many left feet you have or what age you are. We dance mainly English ceilidh dances depending upon the band and caller. No previous experience necessary as all dances are taught before dancing and there are regular experienced dancers to help beginners through each dance if required.  No need to book, just turn up. (Casual dress code and we recommend you wear comfortable, flat shoes)  You don't have to dance and no partner is necessary, you can just come and enjoy the atmosphere if you want.
We welcome anyone with the ability to play music, sing, call, or share any other talent.

Mumpers meets on the first and third Sunday of every month (with a summer break), at the Meadows Inn, Chequers Road, Derby, DE21 6EP within a minute of the Pentagon Island on the A52. (map). Ceilidhs run from 8:00pm to 10:30pm. Bar is available with ale on draft, pool table in back room, large free car park at venue.

We try to alternate Sundays between "Residents night Ceilidhs" when anyone and everyone can join in with our resident band "Forbidden Gannet",  and "Mumpers Ceilidhs" where booked bands have the chance to run the night on their own terms. See Events page.

If you want to join in on a residents night you're welcome to have a go, you don't have to play into a mike if you're not yet confident about playing in front of an audience then come along  and busk along in the background, please bring your own instrument. Alternatively, if you would like to practice the tunes without an audience then come to our music session practice on Sunday evenings, see "Music session" above.

Come and join us for our next ceilidh. Admission is £3.50 per adult, £2.50 OAPs & unemployed, children (under 16) are free!
